Theme for the performances is often taken from personal experiences, but they also reflect broader issues like identity, communication breakdowns, and existential questions about life and death.
I also address question about action and performance art theoretically as a researcher, lecturer and practically through workshops. At the moment I’m working with a research project that focus on questions about pain and visuality.
I'm a stage artist with focus on action and performance art. During the years 1992-2006 I was performing under the name the belacqua project (The name of the domain is from that period).
Since 2007 I'm performing under my own name and at the moment I’m executing the series Works.
My work is highly influenced by expressionistic traditions, formal and thematically with references to actions painting, German expressionistic art, the Vienna actionist etc.
The actions are carried out in a ritualistic style, with meticulously worked out visual, sound, video smell and (sometimes) tasteful effects. The action creates an image and a soundscape that slowly evolves and changes, combining a minimalistic repetitive behavior with expressionistic outbursts.
